Police Actively Investigating An Early Thursday Morning Fatal Shooting

WASHINGTON, DC.- Police are continuing the investigation into the murder of a 41-year-old man, who was gunned down early Thursday morning on a Southeast, D.C. Street.
According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Thursday, December 27, 2024, at around 12:30 a.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting gunfire on the 2700 Block of Fairlawn Avenue in Southeast, D.C.
Police Find Victim Dead
Upon arrival, Police Officers located a man, later identified as Lamar Edwards, 41, address unknown, unresponsive from a gunshot wound. Mr. Edwards was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene by DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been reported as Detectives continue the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of Mr. Edwards.
