California Drug Trafficker Sentenced To Federal Prison

Drug Trafficker Sentenced For Having Drugs In Car In Owyhee County, Idaho

BOISE, ID. On Thursday, February 6, 2025, Robert Paul Anthony Aragon, 31, of California, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the District of Idaho and was sentenced by Senior U.S. District Court Judge B. Lynn Winmill to 120 months in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release, after pleading guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute Controlled Substances, Cocaine, and Methamphetamine.

     According to U.S. Attorney Josh Hurwitt and documents filed with the District Court, While driving in Idaho, Aragon was stopped by Police Officers for a traffic violation in Owyhee County. During the traffic stop, a K9 unit conducted an open-air sniff on Aragon’s vehicle and positively alerted the Police Officers to the presence of controlled substances in the vehicle.

Police Officers Find 25 Pounds Of Meth And Cocaine

     Following the K9 response, Police Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and uncovered and seized 25 pounds of methamphetamine, one kilogram of cocaine, and a loaded Glock 27 semi-automatic handgun with an extended magazine containing 22 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

     After Police Officers located the contraband inside the vehicle, Aragon was taken into custody and charged. Aragon later entered into a negotiated plea and pleaded guilty to the charge he was sentenced for.

     U.S. Attorney Hurwitt commended the investigative work of the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Nampa Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit, the Owyhee County Sheriff’s Office, and the Idaho State Police for the investigation, which led to the successful prosecution of Aragon.
