Middletown Man Sentenced For 2023 Domestic Dispute Stabbing Of Two

MIDDLETOWN, NJ.- Last Thursday, a 38-year-old man will be spending the next decade and a half in New Jersey State Prison for violently stabbing a family member during a domestic dispute inside their home in July 2023.
According to Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago, on Thursday, February 20, 2025, Timothy Sauers, 38, of Middletown, New Jersey, appeared in Monmouth County Superior Court and was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Paul X. Escandon to fifteen years in State Prison subject to the No Early Release Act, which will require Sauers to serve 85% of his custodial term before becoming eligible for parole, after pleading guilty last month to one count of first-degree Attempted Murder.
In addition to the term of imprisonment, Judge Escandon ordered Sauers to have no future contact with the victim and barred him from returning to the residence where the stabbing took place.
The guilty plea and sentence stem from an investigation that began on July 5, 2023, when members of the Middletown Township Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a domestic disturbance at a residence located on Hillside Street in the Township.
Police Find Woman Stabbed And Another Injured
Upon arrival, Police Officers discovered a woman suffering from a stab wound to her neck. The woman was immediately transported to an area hospital for treatment, along with another member of the household, who was injured while attempting to intervene during the knife attack. The woman’s two minor children were present in the home during the stabbing.
A subsequent investigation by Detectives of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Bureau and the Middletown Township Police Department determined that Sauers was responsible for the stabbing and was responsible for the stabbing and was apprehended a short time later.
Sauers has remained in custody in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution since his initial arrest and will now be transferred to the custody of the New Jersey Department of Corrections to serve the remainder of his sentence.
