BERKELEY TOWNSHIP, NJ.- On Thursday, March 6, 2025, following a trial in Ocean County Superior Court, a jury found David Taber, 67, of Berkeley Township, New Jersey, guilty of Criminal Sexual Contact in connection with an incident that occurred in Berkeley Township, New Jersey on March 22, 2023.
According to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer, following nearly a week-long trial before Superior Court Judge Kenneth T. Parker, the jury found that Taber, while a patient at the Crystal Lake Rehabilitation Facility in Berkeley Township, New Jersey, committed an act of criminal sexual contact upon a nurse at the facility.
Upon the jury returning their findings of guilt, Judge Palmer accepted the verdict and scheduled sentencing for May 9, 2025. At that time, Taber faces up to 18 months in New Jersey State Prison.
Guilty Verdict Results From An Investigation
The conviction stems from an investigation that began on March 22, 2023, when, shortly before 7:00 p.m., members of the Berkeley Township Police Department responded to a report of a patient inappropriately touching a nurse at the Crystal Lake Rehabilitation Facility in the Township.
During the initial investigation, responding Police Officers determined while the nurse was attempting to administer medication to Taber, he touched her breast without her permission, placed her in a bear hug, and attempted to pull down her pants. A co-worker quickly intervened and separated Taber and the nurse.
Following the investigation, Taber was initially charged with a summons complaint, pending future court proceedings in Ocean County Superior Court in Toms River, New Jersey.
