Kanawha County Man Sentenced For Federal Drug Distribution Crime

CHARLESTON, W.VA.- On Tuesday, a 33-year-old Pratt, West Virginia man found out he would be spending over the next sixteen years in federal prison after being sentenced for selling around 90 pounds of methamphetamine to a confidential informant in Kanawha County, West Virginia.

     On Tuesday, March 4, 2025, Jonathan Fitzpatrick, 33, of Pratt, West Virginia, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia and was sentenced by Senior U.S. District Court Judge David A. Faber to 194 months in federal prison, to be followed by five years of supervised release for his previously entered guilty guilty plea to a federal narcotics violation.

     Fitzpatrick previously appeared in federal court in the Southern District of West Virginia and pleaded guilty to the Distribution of 500 Grams or More of a Mixture and Substance Containing Methamphetamine.

     According to Acting U.S. Attorney Lisa G. Johnston and charging documents filed with the District Court, on June 3, 2024, during an ongoing investigation into illicit narcotics activities within the Southern District of West Virginia. Fitzpatrick sold just around ten pounds of methamphetamine to a confidential informant during a controlled buy under the observation of law enforcement investigators in the Charleston area of Kanawha County, West Virginia.

Fitzpatrick Sells Around 90 Pounds Of Meth

     During his plea allocution, Fitzpatrick admitted to selling the methamphetamine on June 3, 2024, and further admitted to distributing a total of around 90 pounds of a substance containing methamphetamine to the confidential informant from around December 2022 to around April 2024.

     Acting U.S. Attorney Johnston commended the investigative work of the Drug Enforcement Administration and the U.S. Route 119 Drug Task Force for the investigation, arrest, and successful prosecution of Fitzpatrick.
