D.C. Metropolitan Police Charge Teen In Last Saturday Southeast Shooting

WASHINGTON, DC.- On Thursday, a 16-year-old Southeast, D.C. boy was taken into custody and charged in connection with shooting a teen last Saturday night in Southeast, D.C.
According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Saturday, March 1, 2025, shortly after 7:00 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department responded to a report of a shooting on the 5100 Block of Hanna Place in Southeast, D.C.
Police Find Teen Boy Shot
Upon arrival, Police Officers found a teenage boy suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The boy was immediately transported by DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services to a nearby hospital for treatment.
During the initial investigation, Police Officers learned that the suspect shot the boy on Hanna Place and then fled the scene. During the course of the ensuing investigation, Detectives were able to identify the shooter.
Accordingly, on Thursday, March 6, 2025, Detectives arrested and charged a 16-year-old Southeast, D.C. boy with Assault with Intent to Kill. Following the boy’s arrest, Detectives executed a court-authorized search of the boy’s home and recovered the firearm used in the shooting.
