Maryland Man Charged In January 2022 Burglary & Sexual Abuse Case

WASHINGTON, DC.- On Friday, March 7, 2025, a 41-year-old Fort Washington, Maryland, man was taken into custody and charged in connection with a burglary and sexual groping of a woman inside her Northwest, D.C. home back in January 2022.
According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at around 12:30 a.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Third District responded to a residence located on the 1500 Block of Corcoran Street in Northwest, D.C., after receiving a report of a break-in.
Upon arrival, Police Officers were informed by a female victim an unknown suspect had broken into her home, and once inside, the suspect made unwanted sexual contact with her.
During Investigation, Detectives Identify Suspect
During the ensuing investigation, D.C. Metropolitan Police Detectives identified the suspect as Verrazano Alton Ported, 41, of Fort Washington, Maryland, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
On Friday, March 7, 2025, Porter was located and taken into custody pursuant to a D.C. Superior Court warrant and formally charged with first-degree Burglary; and third-degree Sex Abuse. Porter was processed on the charges and was remanded to the D.C. Central Detention Facility, pending future court proceedings in the Superior Court for the District of Columbia.
