ELKINS, W.VA.- On Friday, a 43-year-old Petersburg, West Virginia, woman, when sentenced, will be sending up to 20 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to possessing over a quarter ounce of methamphetamine that was found in her vehicle during a traffic stop.

On Friday, March 21, 2025, Theresa Marie Lipkey, 43, of Parkersburg, West Virginia, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia and pleaded guilty before U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael John Aloi to one count of Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, Methamphetamine.

According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen Warner and charging documents filed with the District Court, during an ongoing narcotics investigation, members of the Potomac Highlands Drug Task Force conducted a traffic stop on a motor vehicle being driven by Lipkey, as she drove from Morgantown, West Virginia to Petersburg, West Virginia.

During the stop, investigators executed a court-authorized search of Lipkey’s vehicle and person and located and seized around 129 grams of methamphetamine. At that time, Lipkey was taken into custody and charged.

Following entering her guilty plea on Friday, Judge Aloi accepted the plea and scheduled Lipkey to be sentenced at a time and date to be determined by the District Court. At sentencing, Lipkey faces up to 20 years in federal prison, at least three years of supervised release, and a $1 million fine. At sentencing, a U.S. District Court Judge will determine the term of imprisonment based on the seriousness of the offense and Lipkey’s prior criminal history, if any.

Acting U.S. Attorney Randolph J. Bernard commended the investigative work of the Potomac Highlands Drug Task Force.
