Guatemalan National Charged With Illegal Reentry After Being Deported

HARRISBURG, NJ.- On Wednesday, April 2, 2025, a Federal Grand Jury for the Middle District of Pennsylvania returned an indictment charging Sabino Lemus-Carias, 39, a Guatemalan national illegally residing in Franklin County, Pennsylvania, with Illegal Reentry into the United States by a Previously Deported Alien.
According to Acting U.S. Attorney John C. Gurganus and charging information unsealed in the indictment, alleges that Lemus-Carias was previously removed from the United States on May 15, 2006, through Brownsville, Texas. It is further alleged that Lemus-Carias was subsequently found in the United States on March 26, 2025, in Franklin County, Pennsylvania, without first obtaining permission or legal authorization to enter the country.

Lemus-Carias Faces Up To Two Years In Federal Prison
If convicted on the charge, Lemus-Carias faces up to two years in federal prison, a term of supervised release, and a $250,000 fine. At sentencing, upon a finding of guilt, a U.S. District Court Judge will determine the term of imprisonment based on the seriousness of the offense and Lemus-Carias’ prior criminal history. Upon completion of any imposed term of imprisonment, Lemus-Carias will face immediate deportation proceedings and be removed from the United States.
