Police Searching For The Gunman In Thursday’s Southeast Fatal Shooting

WASHINGTON, DC.- A 33-year-old Southeast, D.C. man became the latest victim to fall prey to gun violence in the Nation’s Capitol City after he was gunned down late Thursday evening on Benning Road in Southeast, D.C.

     According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Thursday, March 13, 2025, just shortly before 9:30 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Sixth District responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a man being shot inside an establishment located on the 5000 Block of Benning Road in Southeast, D.C.

Police Officers Find Man Shot

     Upon arrival, Police Officers found the man, later identified as Darius Young, 33, of Southeast, D.C., inside the Benning Road business, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. 

     Mr. Young was immediately transported by DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services to a nearby hospital. Where despite life-saving efforts by doctors, Mr. Young succumbed to his injuries and was subsequently pronounced deceased.

     During the initial investigation, responding Police Officers and Detectives determined that Mr. Young was shot on the 5000 Block of H Street in Southeast, D.C.

     The investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been made as the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department is continuing the search for the suspect and a motive for the shooting.
