Slingerlands Man Sentenced For Sexual Exploiting Six-Year-Old Child

ALBANY, NY.- Today, a 75-year-old Slingerlands, New York, man learned he would most likely die in federal prison after being sentenced for sexually abusing and exploiting a six-year-old child in his care so he could produce child pornography.
On Monday, March 17, 2025, Daniel Fuino, 75, of Slingerlands, New York, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Mae A. D’Agostino to 180 years in federal prison, to be followed by fifteen years of supervised release for his previously entered guilty plea to sexually exploiting a child.
In handing down the sentence today in federal court in Albany, New York, Judge D’Agostino ordered Fuino to pay $36,962.25 in restitution to the victim and imposed a $5,100 special assessment fee in addition to the term of imprisonment. Fuino will be required to register as a sex offender in the national database.

According to U.S. Attorney John A. Sarcone, III, and charging information filed with the District Court, last year, Fuino pleaded guilty to Sexual Exploitation of a Minor. During his plea allocution, Fuino admitted that between the summer of 2022 and April 2023, while he babysat a girl who was born in 2016, he used the six-year-old girl at that time to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing digital images and video files of child pornography.
According to statements made previously in the court, the young girl reported the abuse in May 2023 after attending an elementary school presentation on inappropriate touching and sexual contact.
Following the girl reporting the abuse and during the execution of a court-authorized search warrant at Fuino’s Slingerlands residence, investigators uncovered digital images and video files he created of the sexual abuse of the young girl. During questioning by investigators, Fuino admitted that he touched the girl’s genitals. Fuino was taken into custody at that time and has remained detained since that date,
U.S. Attorney Sarcone commended the investigative work of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the New York State Police, and the Colonie Police Department, which led to Fuino’s successful prosecution.
